Lib Dems recognise work of their Bamburgh councillor
Coucillor Pat Scott
BAMBURGH’S Lib Dem councillor Pat Scott was recognised for her achievements in 2012 with an award at the Constituency Liberal Democrats’ AGM.
Berwick MP Sir Alan and chair Heather Cairns presented Coun Scott with the Derrick Wilbie Chalk Award for her work in the post.
Heather said: “Pat Scott is an example to local councillors everywhere in the professional and committed approach she takes to representing her division at the county council.
“She has worked tirelessly for the communities in Belford, Seahouses, Beadnell and Bamburgh and on behalf of the party in the Berwick upon Tweed constituency I am delighted to thank her publicly for her efforts.”
After presenting Coun Scott with her award, Sir Alan defended the Lib Dem role in coalition government.
He listed cutting income tax for those on low pay, directing help to disadvantaged children through the Pupil Premium expanding child care and creating apprenticeships as among the achievements of Liberal Democrats in the coalition,
Liberal Democrats had achieved a lot, Sir Alan said, including measures threatening civil liberties such as identity cards, but were still planning more despite very difficult economic conditions.
