FOUR Housing Group is calling for independent members to join its scrutiny panel in Northumberland.
Two independent members are being sought to complement a panel of eight members which will scrutinise the quality of social housing and its delivery in the region.
Joanne Douglas, a Four Housing Group tenant in Berwick, thinks tenant scrutiny is a great way forward. “Tenants can become more involved in the development and reviewing of services and have the chance to get better value for money,” she explained. “As a member of Berwick Borough Housing’s Board I am involved in setting the panels up and will meet with potential candidates during the recruitment stage.”
The housing provider aims to recruit two independent members to join the panel on a voluntary basis to work to with the tenant members to provide valuable feedback on its performance.
Dawn Keightley, director of operations at Four Housing Group, said: “You might live in the area we work in, you might have an interest in housing or you might be looking for a new opportunity to volunteer and help support people in these communities.
“Panel members should have the desire to make a difference in the social housing sector and the enthusiasm and willingness to listen to and represent tenants’ views.”
Those interested in joining the panel should email graeme.tuckwell@4hg.co.uk or call 01915256132. Or more information can be found at www.4hg.co.uk/scrutiny.aspx. The deadline for applications is February 22.
