Dual Burns Club role for John
HISTORY will be made at the Whiteadder Burns Club Supper on Monday, February 4, when John Gardiner will combine his year as chairman with his work as secretary and treasurer.
He takes on the dual role in his 25th year as secretary and a fine programme has been arranged for the function in the Robin’s Nest at Chirnside.
The Podlies from Eyemouth will sing the Selkirk Grace and Pipe Major Andrew Ainslie of Gavinton will pipe in the haggis which will be addressed by the chairman.
The ‘Immortal Memory’ will be proposed by Seymour Haugh of Kelso. Gary Smith will toast the club and Stuart Robertson from Dunbar will toast ‘The Lassies’.
The oldest member of the club, Watty Robertson from Allanton will toast the chairman.
The Whiteadder club draws its membership from both sides of the border and two members from Eyemouth will lead the entertainment with James Tarvit as musical director and Bruce Thomson accompanying.
Reciting ‘Tam O’Shanter ‘ will be Rob Cockburn from Leitholm.
