Change for old Scremerston pub

A RETROSPECTIVE planning application to allow vehicle sales at Scremerston Cottage has been approved by Northumberland County Council.

Miners Motors, on land behind the former Three Bridges and Miners Arms pub, has been run by Alexander Borthwick without the required permission.

He was granted change of use permission to display and sell motor vehicles, along with a garage and workshop by the council’s north area planning committee last week.

Ancroft Parish Council and Berwick Town Council had raised concerns about highway safety and potential parking on the public footpath but highways officers raised no obections.
