Berwick Christmas lights switch-on announced
Berwick’s Christmas lights will be switched on at the traditional annual ceremony on the town hall steps at 4.30pm on Saturday December 1.
The town council has announced that the mayor, John Robertson, along with characters from this year’s pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk, and children from Tweedmouth West, will join on the steps for carols followed by the countdown and switch-on.
Councillor John Robertson said: We have a double celebration this year, with the Jubilee lamp being switched on at 3.45 by the Duchess of Northumberland, followed by the start of Berwick’s festive season.
“I hope as many people as possible will join us in Marygate and enjoy the lights, decorations and shops, who are already entering into the festive spirit and entering the Town Council’s shop window challenge.”
