Be alert when using cash points

THE public are being urged to be alert when taking money out, after a device was discovered attached to a cash point in Seahouses.

A member of the public handed an ipod to police on Tuesday, February 19, which had been attached, so that it looked down onto the keypad, to the cash point outside the Co-op in Seahouses. Enquiries indicated that no member of the public had lost money because the device was recovered.

Berwick neighbourhood Inspector Davy Garrick said: “If you see anything on a cash machine which looks out of place do not use the machine and report it to the bank immediately. If the bank is closed or the cash point is not at a bank, report it to the police immediately. Always cover the keyboard to mask your actions when typing your PIN.”
