Recent pictures from the site of the new Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital at Cramlington shows progress on the new building.
This image shows external views of the state-of-the art building, next to the Moor Farm roundabout, which is due for completion in 2015.
The hospital is part of Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust’s £200million investment in healthcare for the people of North Tyneside and Northumberland and will be the first in England to have emergency care consultants on site 24/7 delivering emergency care for acutely ill patients.
Specialists in a broad range of conditions such as cardiology, stroke and respiratory will also be on site seven days a week.
Having emergency surgery on one site means that planned operations at the general hospitals at Wansbeck, North Tyneside and Hexham should not be cancelled, even at the busiest times.
