Succeses at Stirling Bull Sales
BORDERS farmer John Elliot topped the female Aberdeen Angus sale at Stirling Bull Sales last week.
The Elliots, of Roxburgh Mains, Kelso, sold Rawburn Ellen Erica H800 for 16,000gns. Sired by DA ES RO Twister 0627, she is out of Cudlobe Ellen Erica 46D and is due to calve in March to Rawburn Elysium.
The team of John and Marion Tilson and Andrew and Wanda Hobbs of Wedderlie, near Gordon, sold Wedderlie Neverdie L326 by Ellin Lord Hardy H703 and out of Wedderlie Nervene J884 for 6,000gns and Wedderlie Princeider L325 by Perkhill Eagle H017 and out of Wedderlie Princeppa J768 for 4,800gns and another for 4,500gns.
The Aberdeen Angus bulls sale set a new record average at Stirling of £5,182 for 103 sold.
Beef Shorthorns followed on Tuesday afternoon when Kelso farmer James Playfair-Hannay of Morebattle Tofts was among the sale leaders with the 21-month-old roan bull Tofts Whisky E775 out of a homebred dam selling for 8,000gns.
He also sold Tofts Academical E729, sired by Tofts Jovial S147 and out of Tofts Augusta X654 for 6,500gns and homebred Tofts Wellington E707 for 3,600gns. Trade peaked at 8,500gns.
