Two teenagers arrested on suspicion of arson after Blyth beach huts and vehicle fires
An investigation was launched by Northumbria Police after a number of fires were reported overnight on Thursday, January 16.
At around 11.15pm, officers were contacted by the Northumberland Fire and Rescue service to three of the popular Blyth beach huts that had been set on fire. Two crews from West Hartford Fire Station in Cramlington were called to the scene.

Hide AdShortly after, police were made aware of a spate of vehicle fires on Wellesley Drive and Grenville Road in Blyth.
Thankfully, nobody was injured during these incidents.
An investigation was launched into the fires which were being treated as deliberate and police and council alike condemned the act.
On Monday, January 20, following inquiries, two teens were arrested on suspicion of arson.
Inspector Neil Hall, one of the lead investigating officers, said: “We take reports of this kind incredibly seriously, and we acknowledge the significant effect that this can have on not only victims but the community as a whole.

Hide Ad“With the nature of the fires, it is incredibly lucky that nobody was seriously injured and as enquiries continue we urge anyone who saw anything suspicious to come forward and contact police with any information.”
The two male teenagers, 19 and 16, remain in police custody.
