Thought for the week

RECENTLY we took our car through the car wash to remove the mud and dirt from it.

As we approached the part when the fans dry the car for you there was a sign at the end of the tunnel which read: “Clean on the outside but what about the inside” obviously trying to encourage us to have a valet service as well – good idea I thought.

But it got me thinking about not just our cars but about our lives.

We all I think look quite presentable on the outside, all with special features that make us just who we are and how we are recognised by our friends and family but I think it is much more difficult for each of us to look inside and see the mess and dirt that is often there but is well covered up – it takes more than a valet service to deal with that.

In the bible it’s called sin (not a very popular word in 2013) and we all have some of it in our lives and because of that the whole reason for Christmas and Easter becomes a reality that God sent the very best of heaven, his lovely son Jesus, to come into the world with the main purpose of taking all that mess onto himself on the cross at Calvary and there and only there can that mess be dealt with.

Are you brave enough to examine yourself and ask for forgiveness and have the inside as clean as the outside?
