Morrisons in Berwick is removing the locks from its trolleys.

Morrisons has removed all trolley locks at its North Road store in response to Berwick’s customer feedback, which called for quicker and easier shopping trips.

A team visited the store last week to update all of its trolley fixtures. This has removed the need to insert a £1 coin or token to release a trolley from its bay.

Richard Hutton, store general manager for Morrisons Berwick said: “Customers in Berwick have told us that they want a quicker shop.

The removal of trolley locks is just one of the many improvements we are making to our store – to make for a faster and easier shopping trip.”

Morrisons is leading the way in the removal of trolley locks across its stores nation-wide. 150,000 locks will be removed from stores this July.

The activity forms part of a significant investment programme to make shopping trips easier for customers.
