SWP receiving international interest in new lifting device
A BERWICK company that has designed and built a revolutionary module lifting device that can handle various types of industrial pipes for the oil fields in the North Sea and the rest of the world is on the up.
Drilling companies from Argentina, France and Nigeria have shown an interest in the potential uses of this revolutionary device.
The firm of SWP Engineering Services Ltd that operates from the Ramparts Business Park in Berwick are enthusiastic about the prospects of expanding the company and creating job opportunities as a result of enquiries and feed back from the oil industry.
Previously, development was at a standstill owing to the present economic climate and the additional taxation placed on North Sea developments.
There was a danger that four jobs could have been lost but Councillor Brian Douglas was able to use his members small capital scheme funding to retain the service of the men and help complete the project to suit potential clients and assist the company over this testing period.
As well as safeguarding jobs, the potential in creating further job opportunities and the success of the project will enable the loan to be returned into Councillor Douglas’s members scheme to be used for qualifying schemes that are currently under consideration.
