Ruth to build on success of Children’s Countryside Day
THE Glendale Agricultural Society has announced the appointment of Ruth Oldfield as their new Children’s Countryside Day event manager.
Since its inception six years ago, the Children’s Countryside Day held on Glendale showfield, has educated over 12,500 children from across Northumberland and North Tyneside.
Ruth, who grew up on a farm at North Charlton and now lives near Bolton, said: “I am excited to be part of educating children about farming and the countryside and offering them a new and rewarding experience, something I have become more passionate about since having children of my own.
“The day is already a huge success so my role will be to build on this success and secure the vital funding required to ensure the event continues year on year.
“In essence, my focus will be on the longevity of the Countryside Day and I have a fantastic and strong committee behind me to support both old and new ideas and initiatives.”
Committee member and former chairman Jayne Watson added: “Ruth is exactly the type of candidate we hoped would come forward for this post.”
