New operations director for hotel portfolio

HOTELIER Eric Kortenbach has been appointed operations director for a portfolio of some of the finest country hotels in the north, including Doxford Hall.

“This is a very special collection of hotels,” he said. “The properties are diverse and all have history and heritage.”

“I want to see them remain independent destinations in their own right, laces that people really want to visit, stay, relax in and enjoy, for what they uniquely offer.

“The greatest challenge will be getting everyone to think beyond their own individual remit, and look at the hotels and themselves as a part of the wider industry.”

Eric says he will be dedicated to staff development and supporting individuals to grow with the business and progress their own careers.

“This is a two way process, ensuring both successful hotels and staff,” he added. “I will work with the general managers and staff at all the properties to assist them in achieving the highest standards of accommodation, cuisine and customer service. I want all staff to share best practice in all departments, from the housekeepers to the kitchens.”

Doxford Hall, Eshott Hall and Guyzance Hall were purchased by Mr Robert Parker a few years ago. The latest addition to his private collection is Dalhousie Castle near Edinburgh, a former Von Essen hotel, which was purchased earlier this year.

Commenting on this new appointment Robert Parker said: “I am delighted to be welcoming Eric as operation director. With over 30 years working in the hospitality industry at the highest level, I know that Eric will bring out the best in all of the properties and the people who work within them.”
