Doxford gets a second AA Rosette
DOXFORD Hall Hotel near Ellingham has once again been recognised for its outstanding food and service.
Thanks to the excellent culinary skills of head chef Paul Blakey and his team, the hotel has received its second AA Rosette.
The George Runciman Restaurant is, in fact, the only restaurant in north Northumberland to be awarded this accolade.
To receive the award, a restaurant must stand out in its local area, its food should be prepared with skill and precision to consistently high standards and its chefs must pay particular attention to the quality and choice of ingredients on their menu.
Only 10 per cent of restaurants in the UK are considered worthy of at least one rosette, so this really is an outstanding achievement.
Paul, who lives locally, is naturally delighted with the recognition that this award brings. Since joining Doxford Hall in 2008, he has worked tirelessly to ensure that every guest enjoys exactly the same high quality standards. He is passionate about sourcing local food from local producers and won’t ever compromise on quality.
Commenting on receiving the two AA Rosettes, Paul said: “I am extremely proud that Doxford Hall has now been recognised as one of the best places for fine dining in Northumberland.
“I have the support of a great team of chefs and restaurant staff who all work extremely hard to ensure that our guests enjoy a truly memorable dining experience.
“We are all completely committed to using local food on our seasonal menus ensuring they always get a unique taste of Northumberland.”
The elegant George Runciman Restaurant lists its regional suppliers on its menu, which is updated seasonally.
A typical taste of Northumberland might begin with Ham Knuckle Terrine with Pease Pudding and Toasted Brioche followed by a Tasting of Northumbrian Lamb with a Pea and Puy Lentil Jus and Pear & Almond Tart with Pistachio Ice Cream or selection of Northumbrian Cheeses to finish.
Operations Director Eric Kortenbach is naturally delighted and added: “We are so pleased that Paul, his team and the hotel have been acknowledged not for just for their passion for fine food but for the whole ambience they have created.
“Now that we have two AA Rosettes, we do hope that people living and staying in Northumberland will come to enjoy a very special culinary experience.”
The restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner, with a choice of table d’hôte and à la carte menus, as well as Sunday lunch. morning coffees, light lunches and traditional afternoon tea are served daily in the Georgian Room, overlooking the original estate.
