Job seekers in Berwick can get help finding work thanks to a new project that has been rolled out by the community trust.
Berwick Community Trust’s award-winning Here For You project has launched a job match service to help both local businesses and job seekers in the area.
Here for You, the trust’s project which seeks to support members of the community into work, launched Job Match! after local businesses started to approach them in an attempt to find employees.
WRM Joinery, the first business to use the Job Match service, was delighted to have their vacancy filled within two days.
They took on Alan Wharton of Berwick, who says he is pleased to be back in work, and is enjoying his new job.
Billy Matthews of WRM Joinery said: “Alan was lucky that he had Here for You on side. He had a bit of work/life experience, and knew how to and was prepared to work!”
Job seekers can register with the service for free. Employers register their vacancies and the staff at Here for You will sift potential applicants and supply quality, relevant candidates for interview.
Here for You has been highly successful in supporting members of the community into work. Of the 304 residents registered with the charity, 111 have gained employment since the Here for You project started in 2013.
Project manager Becci Murray said: “We hope that Here for You will continue to support our community through Job Match and the other services we offer at the William Elder Building.”
