Berwick-based architectural and building surveyor Robert J Hales Ltd has appointed a new a chartered architect.
The company’s manager and founder member Robin Hales has appointed his son Paul in an attempt to expand the firm’s design service.
Robin explained: “As an architect, it is hoped Paul’s appointment will bring a design-led focus to compliment the technical aspect of this practice.”
Paul studied architecture at the Edinburgh College of Art and Edinburgh University and has a passion for contemporary minimalist architecture.
In his short time at Robert J Hales Ltd, Paul has already been involved with schemes carried out under the Berwick Historic Area Improvement Scheme (BHAIS), working with clients, the local authority and contractors to deliver traditional designs that respond to the historical context and fabric of Berwick.
Robin added: “Paul’s ambition is to expand upon his current understanding of historical and listed buildings to gain building conservation accreditation and study towards becoming a chartered town planner.”
