TWO children dressed up for a good cause to appeal for volunteers to help staff at the newly re-opened RNLI Grace Darling Museum in Bamburgh.

Ella and Harry Paul, aged eight and five, pictured above, wore the type of clothes young Grace and her brother William would have worn when she lived on the Longstone Lighthouse from where at the age of 22, she famously rowed to the rescue of nine ship-wrecked people in 1838.

The museum is proving hugely popular since opening its doors once again last Autumn following a major re-build and needs more people to help show visitors around, assist with school visits and run its small shop.

Children like Ella and Harry are among many who have already enjoyed the museum's educational workshops.

Ella, from Seahouses, said: "I loved visiting the museum and we learnt a lot about life on a lighthouse. I liked Grace Darling's pink dress best."

The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 to 5pm, with last entry at 4.15pm. If you would like to find out more about volunteering please ring the RNLI Grace Darling Museum on (01668) 214910.
