AFTER trying her hand at pageants, Berwick beauty Georgia Graham is gearing up for a crack at another title.
Twenty year-old Georgia is hoping to finish in pole position in MCN's Babe of the Year competition.
Motorcycle News (MCN) is a favourite amongst the UK's biking fraternity and the magazine is hosting a huge show in London from February 4-7.
And Georgia, a former pupil of Berwick High, will be making the trip down to the capital where she will compete against five other girls in a series of tasks to try to win a year's contract with CTA Associates Modelling Agency, a set of portfolio shots and a feature in a future issue of MCN.
During the past couple of years, Georgia has experienced the glitz and glamour of Miss Earth and Miss Universe but as a fan of motorbikes and experience as a promo girl at similar events, she thinks she'll be more at home at the MCN show.
Georgia commented: "Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed taking part in the beauty pageants but they're all very regimented - you have to wear a particular dress and walk in a certain way.
"Promotions work is a lot more spontaneous and I'm a short, curvy, bubbly girl so it's definitely more my thing. It's definitely the route I want to pursue and I think the MCN Show will be a really fun one to do."
Like other competitions she's taken part in, it was Georgia's mum who entered her for the MCN title and Georgia is hoping that her mum's faith in her will pay off.
"My mum does enter me for a lot of things - sometimes without asking me first - but I know she just wants me to do well.
"The MCN Babes competition is purely based on a text vote from people who come along to the show so I'm hoping that I'll be able to work the crowd and drum up some support."
And with a few keen motorcyclists in her family, Georgia has got quite a bit of knowledge on the subject and hopes this will stand her in good stead.
She continued: "I'm not going to pretend that I know loads about bikes but I have been on one before, even though I was like a koala clinging on for dear life!
"I've picked up a bit of knowledge from here and there and I watch 'Top Gear' so I think I will actually be able to have a conversation with people about bikes rather than just standing there clueless!
"I've done a few car shows before as well so I've got that experience under my belt."
The Georgia of today is a lot different from the timid girl of a few years ago.
Georgia admitted that she didn't have a lot of confidence when she was at school but nevertheless still harboured ambitions of becoming a model.
She said that getting her teeth straightened was a big step and the fact that she's now been featured in various magazines and does regular promotions work has been a massive boost to her confidence.
She continued: "I was always quite shy when I was growing up and I never felt really good about myself.
"I still wanted to be a model though but back then I never would have expected to be doing what I do now. Modelling is an industry where you're going to get a lot of knock backs but so far I've been in the right place at the right time and I really want to make a go of it this year."
And it looks like 2010 could well be Georgia's year. As well as bagging a place in the final of the MCN Babe competition she's made it into the Top 100 of FHM's High Street Honeyz 2010 - watch this space for further details on how you can vote for her or visit the FHM website.
