SEAHOUSES lifeboat crew had an early morning callout on Tuesday after a yacht's anchor rope became wrapped round its propeller.

The yacht 'Fast Jodocus' with a Belgian couple on board had made a distress call at around 3.30am on Tuesday, reporting that they had difficulties and were in danger of grounding.

Both the inshore and all-weather lifeboats from Seahouses were called to assist, and on arrival discovered the yacht's problem.

Crew from the inshore lifeboat attempted unsuccessfully to free the rope from the yacht's propeller, and as the yacht was in danger of going aground, a tow was attached and the all-weather lifeboat towed the disabled yacht into Seahouses harbour at around 6am.

The yacht was not damaged in the incident and the rope was freed at low tide.
