DURING December and January the dock was exceptionally quiet, only one ship arriving on the 29th of December - and she didn't start discharging until January 4 - and one ship in January.

The first and only ship in December was the Baltiyskiy-201 from Klaipeda.

She arrived on the 29th with 2532 tonnes of fertiliser, sailing on January 7 in ballast for St Petersburgh.

The next arrival was the Union Moon from Seaham on the 21st in ballast to load 2200 tonnes of barley sailing on the 28th for Amsterdam.
The new Harbour Master's Office is now fully operational.

The move took place during the last couple of weeks in December; moving all the documents and records of 150 plus years does take some time.

The entrance is through a small foyer and on the right, is a large pleasant office for the Harbour Master's secretary, on the left is a large conference room then the Harbour Masters office, next door is a small office for the clerk to the Harbour Commission.

In line with current building regulations there is a disabled toilet and next to that a second toilet, next is a well equipped kitchen and finally a large storeroom.

The commissioners have an office to be proud of finished to a high standard. The days of buckets placed around the office have at last gone.
