A WOOLER man suffered severe gunshot wounds to his leg when he was riding a quadbike on farmland last Wednesday afternoon.
Mark Mather had been carrying the weapon when the quadbike went up a bank, turned over and the shotgun discharged.
The 23 year-old from Haugh Head Farm was taken to Wansbeck General Hospital where he underwent surgery. He remains in a stable condition and is likely to remain on the ward for a few more days.
Police are investigating the incident and a spokesman said the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) had been informed.
