SIR Alan Beith MP has won an appeal into his expenses claims after it was found that he had actually underclaimed for his London flat.

The Legg inquiry into MPs' expenses had initially suggested that Sir Alan had claimed too much for the rented London flat, but questions about the rental aspect of the claims were based on inaccurate information.

Sir Alan said: "I am very pleased that the appeal has been completely upheld by the High Court judge who has ruled that I have underclaimed rent costs and have nothing to repay."
