MP nominated for award organised by The House Magazine

BERWICK'S MP Alan Beith has been nominated for a top award organised by The House Magazine, a weekly publication for Westminster and all those with an interest in politics, policy and Parliament.

The annual House Magazine Parliamentary Awards are eagerly awaited as parliament's most prestigious celebration of the hard work and tireless efforts of MPs and peers.

Alan Beith has been nominated for the Parliamentary Award, which is presente
d to a Member of either the House of Commons or the House of Lords who, during his or her parliamentary career, has consistently been recognised as an outstanding Member of, and ambassador for, Parliament.

The other nominees for this year's award are Kenneth Clarke QC MP and Sir Gerald Kaufmann MP.

Alan Beith said: "It is a great honour to have been nominated for this award.

"I have always made it my priority to work for the people of the Berwick-upon-Tweed constituency at Westminster, but have been fortunate to visit many other parts of the United Kingdom and travel overseas through my work on various select committees, especially more recently as chairman of the Justice Committee, representing Parliament."

The House Magazine is managed by a cross-party editorial team of MPs and overseen by a panel of senior parliamentarians, the publication contains articles and features by some of the most senior politicians, journalists and political commentators.
