ELLIGHAM First School staff and pupils dedicated a new wooden gazebo to their late headteacher Caroline Dickinson last week.

Mrs Dickinson was headteacher at the small village school for eight years, from 2000, but after briefly moving to a first school in Morpeth, she was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, eventually losing her fight against the disease in October last year.

Members of Mrs Dickinson's family were at the dedication ceremony, and two former pupils read an acrostic poem as a tribute to a remarkable lady.

The funding for the gazebo was provided by the Friends and Community of Ellingham School, the school's PTA, and will be used for outdoor learning.
