Oil paintings to go on view at Watchtower
Local artist Grahame Tubbutt working on a panel concentrating on local history ready for an exhibition opening at the Watchtower gallery
LOCAL artist Grahame Tebbutt will be showing his latest paintings at the Berwick Watchtower in Tweedmouth.
The exhibition starts on Saturday, January 19 when a free glass of wine and live music will also be provided. The exhibition continues until February 14 during normal gallery opening hours (Thursday to Sunday 12 till 4pm).
This exhibition concentrates on narrative paintings in oil that give the viewer a chance to investigate a real story contained within a contemporary painting.
One painting on three panels commemorates the Battle of Flodden. Another painting, divided into four panels, attempts to provide the viewer with an insight into the history of The Great War, whilst another large multi-panel painting investigates the story of Berwick, its historical and commercial importance and its future. A further three panel work tells the story of whaling, from mythology, to hunting and to whale preservation. A
number of smaller narrative works relevant to the local area will also be on show.
