BUDDING Quentin Tarintinos, Martin Scorceses and Sophia Coppolas are being given the chance to take part in a cross-border film academy.
Young people from Berwick and the surrounding area are now being given the chance to work together with professionals to make a movie as part of a new 'Crossing Borders' film academy taking place during September.
The experience will bring Scottish
and English youngsters together to learn media skills in script writing, video, sound recording and film editing.
In the spirit of the BBC's 'Fame Academy', 18 young people will be invited to pack up their bags and attend a short residential course where they will shoot their film.
Victoria Matthews, project co-manager, said: "This is a rare opportunity for young people from both sides of the border to meet new people, get creative and pick up some really useful skills at the same time.
"Following the film festival last year, we noticed that young people from the Scottish Borders have had access to filmmaking for some time now through the Scottish filmmaking initiative, 'Voice of My Own'.
"We had some discussions with young people from the Berwick Youth Project, who thought they would like the same opportunity, so we teamed up with VOMO to raise funds to produce a cross-borders filmmaking experience.
"We are really pleased to have been able to get this project off the ground and are looking forward to seeing what the young people will produce this autumn.
"The final film will be premiered as part of the Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival 'inner states' 2008 at the end of November," added Victoria.
"If you are aged between 14 and 18, interested in films, photography, music, acting or writing then this project could be for you!"
