AN Open Studio event is being held at Allanbank Mill Steading, where work by three artists will be on view from Friday to Monday, August 1-4, 11am to 6pm daily.
Pauline Burbridge and Charles Poulsen are resident artists at the studio at Allanton and they are welcoming Thomas Hawson, guest artist for this exhibition.
Pauline specialises in 'one off' textile wall hangings and functional quilts. At the show she will be unveiling her 2008 'Quiltline' collection and showing her most recent studio quilt and stitch drawings.
Charles Poulsen uses lead sheet and sections of tree to make sculpture, where the natural and man-made combine to create a new class of object. He will also be showing a selection of drawings.
Guest artist Thomas Hawson works mainly in wood, inspired by early Nordic cultures, re-inventing old traditions of making.
