TEAR yourself away from the Christmas build-up and come to Berwick Film Society's film night on Wednesday, December 16 for a delightful journey back in time to the Edwardian era.

Dean Spanley is a charmingly quirky tale of a father and son with a distant relationship (played by the frail but feisty Peter O'Toole and an exasperated Jeremy Northam), who happen upon the enigmatic Dean Spanley (Sam Neill).

The dean, if temp
ted with a glass of a particularly rare tipple, will enter the spirit of a long-departed being. As the mysterious dean's tales of adventure unravel, Fisk Jr gradually realises this could cast up a missing jigsaw piece. What he doesn't know is, it could also open a door long been held firmly shut.

It's a touching and toe-toasting story for a chilly winter's night. Just what's needed!

As normal, the film will be screened by BFS in The Maltings Theatre at 7.30pm, tickets on the door £5, members free.

Filmgoers to Dean Spanley can make an evening of it and indulge themselves in a glass of mulled wine and a choice of delicious main courses at their Edwardian pre-filmshow supper at Café Curio, 52 Bridge Street, opening at 5.30pm on the night, seated for 6pm and out in good time for watching the film.
