THE Healys traditional folk group travel to Berwick and Berwickshire to present their lively show of Scottish, Irish and north east music and humour from Saturday, August 2 to Friday, August 8.
They have played together for many years and recently concentrated their efforts into touring and recording, the profits from which go to the Suzy Fund, which runs a feeding station for orphans in Ethiopia.
The Healys' 2008 'Art for Life' tour takes
in Berwick, Eyemouth, St Abbs and Coldingham, and the band members have close associations with the area as Tony, John and Erne attended Newcastle Art College with Eyemouth lad Colin Browne, who sadly passed away some years ago.
"It was his love of Eyemouth and the emotive story of the Eyemouth disaster that inspired me to write 'Black Friday,' which is on our new CD," said Erne.
The band are proud to play the song live for the first time on this tour, and especially so in this area.
As an addition to their musical exploits, the band are planning an exhibition of paintings, sculptures, prints and photographs, to be held in St Abbs Community Centre from Sunday, August 3-8 (10am to noon and 2-4pm), with all profits going to the Suzy Fund.
The band play Eyemouth Congregational Church on Tuesday, August 5 (7pm), Coldingham Village Hall on Thursday, August 7 (8pm), and The Maltings, Berwick, on Friday, August 8 (7.30pm).
