THE cellar bar of Barrels alehouse in Bridge Street Berwick, is the venue for 'To The Floor!', a new club/band night in association with Forza! Recording Company.
The night promises to feature live bands from Berwick and the wider area as well as DJ's playing the best new music from all across the globe from 8pm until late.
The first 'pilot' episode took place a fortnight ago with Berwick's singer songwrite
r Mark Reid sharing the bill with new band Saint Monday hailing from Norham. The next episode takes place this Friday (February 2) with a line up of The Briganties and Blackflower. Local boys The Briganties (www.myspace.com/thebriganties) should need no introduction to music lovers in the town, but if they do, they are the band NME described as "rock in the Roses/Oasis/Verve mould with post-rock tinges that give them an anthemic sound".
Newcastle band Blackflower (www.myspace.com/blackflowermusic) may be less familiar, but they've already racked up a couple of singles and a BBC radio session. Their jangly brand of psychedelic powerpop evokes memories of 60's bands The Zombies and The Left Banke which is sure to entertain all who attend.
Entrance is £3, payable on the door. Keep an eye on www.myspace.com/forzainfo for details of future 'To The Floor!' nights.
