ST Cuthbert's Centre, on Holy Island, is hosting an art exhibition of paintings inspired by Lindisfarne.
Professional artist Colin Brown is also a Christian minister and during the past few years he has been on retreat several times to this wonderful 'thin place', enjoying the beauty of various parts of the island.
His love of painting and of nature is
portrayed in a stunning series of original oil paintings and, inspired by the natural world, his art depicts places and encounters that have inspired, challenged, encouraged and moved him.
With 20 years as an established illustrator, he has developed the eye and experience gained in the commercial art world to explore and represent light and mood on canvas. Combining his love of art and the sacred, his paintings have that capacity to draw you deeper.
"I paint those things I see that inspire, move and draw me," said Colin.
"This happens mostly through the incredible beauty of the world around us. My hope is that I capture something of the wonder and awe of that beauty."
Holy Island Encounters runs from August 16-28 at St Cuthbert's Centre, Holy Island. Open from 9.45am each day, admission is free. Original paintings, cards and prints for sale, with a percentage of the proceeds going to the work of St Cuthbert's Centre.
