CLASSICAL music lovers in and around Berwick-upon-Tweed are invited to attend a concert by Berwick Arts Choir on Saturday, December 9 and help raise money for RNID, the national charity representing the nine million deaf and hard of hearing people in the UK.
The 60-strong Berwick Arts Choir and orchestra, will be performing Vivaldi's Dixit Dominus, Bach's Magnificat and Buxtehude's Das Neugeborne Kindelein during the concert in Berwick Parish Church.
Tickets for the event, which starts at 7.30pm, cos
t £8 with £1 from each ticket sold going to RNID.
Concert organiser, Joyce Watts, says: "We have decided to give RNID money from our December concert's ticket sales at the bequest of one of our choir members who is hard of hearing.
"He attended a recent talk by RNID in Belford and was so impressed by the charity's work supporting deaf and hard of hearing people that he asked us to make them the beneficiaries of our donation.
"One of my own relatives has also lost his hearing so I know just how frustrating communication can be for, not only the person with a hearing loss, but also friends and family too.
"We will be delighted to make a donation towards RNID's work supporting local people with a hearing loss."
Jackie Clark, RNID Outreach Information Officer, says: "RNID thanks Berwick Arts Choir for choosing us as the good cause to benefit from their charitable giving this Christmas.
"The money will go towards our outreach project, which provides local deaf and hard of hearing people with vital information and advice on a range of subjects affecting their everyday lives."
To buy a ticket for the concert, please contact Berwick Arts Choir secretary, Joyce Watts, on (01890) 840494 or pay on the door. An induction loop will be available at the concert.
