THE Maltings is looking to recruit 50 lucky people of all ages to work with a professional company Mobius for up to eight days of free contemporary dance workshops from July 26 to August 6.
The resulting performance will be part of the spectacular outdoors event 'Dancing Borders' which will launch the pilot of Berwick's first ever live performance festival 'SideShow' on the August 7.
The live event 'Dancing Borders' will begin in the Barracks Square where more than 100 dancers will mass to be led by a giant inflatable cannon onto the Ramparts where a staged dance will re-enact and re-imagine historic battle movements from Borders history.
A film of the event will also be screened as part of the Berwick Film and Media Arts Festival in September on a giant screen in the town.
Maltings director Miles Gregory said: "We are delighted to be working with Mobius Dance Theatre and local artists/filmmakers Walker and Bromwich to present Dancing Borders. It is an exciting project and fantastic opportunity for local people to work closely with professional dancers and film makers to launch this pilot event."
To get involved, contact hetty. chapman@yahoo.co.uk or The Maltings Box Office on (01289) 330999 for more information and to book places.
Anyone aged 12 upwards of all abilities can take part with adults particularly welcome.
