'MAD for it' young musicians and bands from Berwick and Berwickshire are being offered the chance of honing their talents with a professional organisation.
Manchester based Bandskool is offering its help in taking bands in the Borders to the next level in their development.
Andrew Turnbull, Bandskool Director, explains: "We'd like to run the same service in the Borders that we have going on in Manches
ter. "There are regular band sessions using a mentoring system. And there are also other classes including occasional master classes that we run. it's all about creating the best bands we possibly can."
Bandskool organises professional concerts and recording sessions too, all of which would be on offer to anyone signing up for the first term of action which starts in October.
To get things off to a flying start, Bandskool has organised a big concert at the Volunteer Hall in Galashiels featuring some of the best bands from the region.
"We have eight bands from the Scottish Borders playing," added Turnbull, "they all sound like they are MAD FOR IT to coin a Manchester term.
"Hopefully the gig will be heaving because that's what we like to see at our gigs. It's all about giving them the best gigging experience they can have in quite a while."
The gig takes place on August 2 with Radio Borders Rock Show host, Richard Thorburn, acting as the MC and DJ for the evening.
