Autumn season unveiled at Alnwick Playhouse

AUTUMN at The Alnwick Playhouse kicks off from October 1 and features a season of top quality professional touring drama, music, and dance.
For music fans, the entertainment begins with Californian country/bluegrass from Corinne West on October 15, followed a day later with classic songs from the golden age of US rock from Desperado – a tribute to the Eagles.
Chumbawamba - best known fo
r their hit 'I Get Knocked Down' - will be on stage on October 17, while a celebration of the music of 70s rock legends Led Zeppelin from Whole Lotta Led will take place on October 31.
Dynamic rhythmic Algerian Rai music from Abdelkader Saadoun, a refreshing and vibrant interpretation of the music of Bob Dylan led by iconic musician Steve Gibbons called The Dylan Project, a concert from chart-topping original 60s and 70s band The Tremeloes, a spectacular tribute to the Bee Gees rolled into in one Bee Gees Magic Christmas Party and performing all their classic hits, Boomtown Rats featuring dynamic founder members Garry Roberts and Simon Crowe, are among the other musical highlights.
Folk icon Maddy Prior, Nottingham's Ruth Notman, the Shetland Fiddlers Bid and singer/songwriter Ralph McTell are among the traditional music stars who will grace the playhouse.
Jazz fans can look forward to Swing Italiano with Ray Gelato and his Giants Orchestra, a second in a series of occasional Sunday jazz club evenings in the Studio Jazz and Swing into Christmas with Tony Jacobs and his fabulous festive five .
Pimlico Opera's production of Giuseppe Verdi's Falstaff, performed with full 10 piece orchestra, a fine chamber concert from The Atrium Quartet, with music by Mozart, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky, an evening of specially arranged pieces from a variety of composers from the Sally Pryce Harp Ensemble and a violin recital from Jennifer Pike with music from Janacek, Franck and Beethoven will keep classical lovers happy..
Elsewhere in the schedule, audiences can look forward to a version of Calamity Jane in October and the very best in blues and soul from the Chicago Blues Brothers in November.
For theatre fans, highlights include Clap Trap Productions' powerful and moving story of the meeting of war poets Wilfred Owen and Siegfried Sassoon, Not About Heroes, and Rumpus Theatre Company's Gothic horror Dracula's Guest.
There is also a welcome visit to the playhouse from Oddsocks Productions with their riotous seasonal offering, this year it's Les Miserables – Le Panto.
As far as dance is concerned, Under Milk Wood is an interpretation of Dylan Thomas' classic play by Independent Ballet Wales visits in October, while Ballet Ireland present Swan Lake in November.
There's even legendary TV superstar Basil Brush who brings his fabulous family laughter show Basil Brush's High Skool Mania.
