This weeks looking back has been sent in by Mr Ian Forrester, it shows the 1935 celebrations of King George V's silver jubilee, at the right of the Town Hall doorway there is a girl wearing a helmet dressed as Britannia and the other people in fancy dress repesenting the empire.

Plans for the proposed partial pedestrianisation of Berwick’s main shopping street will go on show at a public exhibition in The Maltings tomorrow.
The opportunity to carry out the improvements to Marygate has arisen because English Heritage made a late decision to block a scheme, due to start this autumn, to waterproof the 17th century Old Bridge.
The new scheme would extend the pavement on the east side of Marygate.

British Rail are to hold an enquiry into an accident when a train hit scaffolding on which men were working on the electrification project.
The accident happened when the 22.55 Nightrider from Kings Cross to Edinburgh was passing through Spittal just before 6am.
No-one was injured, but it is believed the workmen had to scramble to safety.
A BR spokesman has confirmed the train received only superficial damage.
50 years ago
The building of new houses for Berwick has robbed the youngsters of Highfields and Westfield estates of their football pitch.
Every effort is to be made to provide a new pitch so the popular games can continue.
A big extension of the present Corporation housing estate at Westfield is now under way.
“We believe another pitch is to be provided,” said a Berwick teenager, “but it is going to be well on into 1963 when it is ready - if then.”
100 years ago
Mr Joseph English, president of the Northumberland Miners’ Association, has published a report into compensation cases last year.
Last year was the most serious for accidents the county ever experienced.
There were 10,000 minor cases and 35 fatal accidents.
In fatal cases the average payment was £164, contributing to a total of £45,720 paid out in total. This meant an increase of 100 accidents per week in 12 years.
