Preservation trust loses dedicated treasurer
JOHN Simmons has been thanked for his 22 years of dedicated service to Berwick-upon-Tweed Preservation Trust after retiring as a trustee.
The treasurer was presented with a commemorative bowl by the longest-serving trustee, Georgina Hume Robertson, at Dewars Lane Granary after officially retiring as a trustee on December 31.
Chairman Jamie Andrew, in a short speech, thanked John for all his dedication and commitment over the past 22 years, in particular, all the hard work he had done as treasurer.
He said: “John has been a real asset to the trust and has contributed significantly to the financial control and success of the trust’s projects over the last 22 years. We will miss him.”
Mr Simmons thanked the chairman and trustees and wished the preservation trust all the very best for the future.
Founded in 1971, the preservation trust aims to promote the repair and refurbishment of many of the town’s outstanding and historic buildings.
