Final call for Northumberland Youth Enterprise Fund applications

IT is the final week for applications for the Northumberland Youth Enterprise Fund (NYEF).

So far the scheme which offers a small grant fund to assist young people in Northumberland with their start up business costs, has seen a number of successful applicants.

The NYEF is available to Northumberland residents aged between 16 and 25 year olds to assist with developing a business idea or business start-up costs. The fund is intended to be flexible and existing businesses are eligible to apply if they are within one year of commencing trading and the business is based within Northumberland.

Councillor Lesley Rickerby, Northumberland County Council’s executive member for children and young people said: “Self-employment is never an easy option but small enterprises such as Simon’s are vital in helping to rebalance Northumberland’s economy. Support offered through initiatives such as the Northumberland Youth Enterprise Fund allows the county’s young people to develop important enterprise skills and pursue a career in areas they are truly passionate about.

“Not only does this provide short term benefits to the individuals and their communities but it also provides inspiring role models for the future.”

The closing date for applications is Thursday 31 January 2013. For further information on the Northumberland Youth Enterprise Fund visit www.northumberland.gov.uk/skills.
