AGE Concern’s refurbished Berwick branch reopened recently with a special ceremony.
The branch’s longest serving volunteer, Betty Renner, was given the honour of cutting the ribbon across the door as the shop got back to business.
Manager Wendy Dixon told the ‘Advertiser’ that she was glad that the shop, at the foot of Church Street, was up and running again, and she was looking forward to recruiting more volunteers.
She said: “We already have some very dedicated people, who come in an help out doing whatever they can,” she said, “but ideally, we could do with nearly double the number of volunteers at present.”
