Spirit of the Games is catching

It seems that sometimes this column can be a source of therapy for me. After writing my whinge last week about how frustrating I was finding everything I realised that I just needed to give myself a boot up the bum, put my big girl pants on, and get out there running.

Members of the 68th Regiment of Foot, Durham Light Infantry, delighted visitors at Berwick Barracks 25 years ago when they appeared dressed as they would have been in the Victorian era.

Special party for Brother Adam

A world famous beekeeper, Brother Adam from Buckfast Abbey in Devon, visited Chainbridge Honey Farm 25 years ago this month. The 93-year-old was spending some time with friends in Hexham and visited the Tweedmouth farm while in Northumberland. Willie and Daphne Robson, of Chainbridge, hosted a small party for him at their Chainbridge home.

Windy summer fair fun

Berwick Summer Fayre still had a great turnout 10 years ago, despite strong winds and chilly, unseasonal weather – much like it has been this summer.
